Recently, Li Jun, the president of Karamay Campus of China University of Petroleum (Beijing), led a delegation organized by the Karamay Municipal Government to visit the United States. During the visit, Li Jun and his team were invited to the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) and participated in relevant activities of the World Energy Cities Partnership (WECP) and the 42nd CERAWEEK. The head of the Department of Cooperative Development accompanied the delegation.At the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, Li Jun and his team met with Reitumetse Mabokela, the Vice President for International Affairs and Provost, Sammer Saleh Jones, the Director of International Affairs, Venetria K. Patton, the Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, and the vice dean and professional heads related to the college. During the symposium, Li Jun introduced the school-running situation and international cooperation intentions of the campus. Both sides conducted in-depth discussions on promoting the implementation of the "3+1+1" undergraduate-master joint training agreement signed by the two universities, and reached preliminary cooperation intentions in teacher exchange, student summer camps, and jointly carrying out professional training programs.In Houston, Li Jun and his team participated in the board meeting of the World Energy Cities Partnership, the hydrogen energy-themed dinner of the 42nd CERAWEEK, the "Agora" event, and other activities.The University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (abbreviated as UIUC), founded in 1867, is located in the serene twin cities of Urbana-Champaign in Illinois. It is a well-known public research university in the United States. The university is a founding member of the Big Ten Conference and a member of the Association of American Universities (AAU), known as the "Public Ivy". Among its alumni and professors, 30 have won the Nobel Prize, and 25 have won the Pulitzer Prize, second only to the University of California, Berkeley, among public universities in the United States. UIUC's engineering programs enjoy a worldwide reputation, with almost all majors ranking in the top ten in the United States.

On the afternoon of March 15, the campus held an online exchange meeting with Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology (SKOLTECH) in Russia. Mihail Spasennykh, the director of the Petroleum Science and Engineering Center at Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology, and representatives of professors from the center participated in the meeting. Xing Xiaokai, vice president of the campus, attended the meeting, along with responsible persons from the Organization and Personnel Department, Graduate Department, Science, Technology, and Information Department, and Cooperation and Development Department, as well as teachers from relevant colleges. During the meeting, both sides introduced the basic information of their respective institutions and conducted in-depth discussions and exchanges on topics such as teacher exchanges, joint training of graduate students, and joint application for scientific research projects. Previously, in order to deeply implement the spirit of President Xi Jinping's reply to Central Asian international students at China University of Petroleum (Beijing) and promote the internationalization work of the campus, an internationalization work symposium was held on March 5. Li Jun, president of the campus, and Xing Xiaokai, vice president, attended the meeting. Responsible persons and teacher representatives from the Teaching Affairs Department, Science, Technology, and Information Department, Cooperation and Development Department, and various colleges participated in the meeting. The participants fully discussed matters related to the implementation of cooperation agreements with Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology in Russia, Satpayev University in Kazakhstan, and other universities, promoting the recruitment and training of international students coming to the campus in 2024, promoting international scientific research cooperation, and piloting the joint training of international students.Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology (SKOLTECH), located in Moscow, the capital of Russia, is part of the Skolkovo Innovation Center, known as the "Russian Silicon Valley". On January 26th, the China-Kazakhstan University Industry-University-Research-Application Cooperative Matchmaking Conference was held at Xinjiang University. Sun Yao, member of the Party Leadership Group and Vice Minister of the Ministry of Education, Darkhan Ahmet-Zaki, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Kazakhstan, Wang Jianxin, member of the Standing Committee of the Autonomous Region Party Committee and Minister of Propaganda, attended the conference and delivered speeches. Vice Chairman of the Autonomous Region Kaysaer Abdukeremu participated in relevant activities. Leaders from 78 universities and 40 enterprises from home and abroad, including Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Tianjin University, Xi'an Jiaotong University, Xi'an Technological University, and others, attended the forum. Li Jun, President of the Karamay Campus, the Science, Technology, and Information Department, the Cooperation and Development Department, and relevant teachers also participated in the conference. From November 10th to 11th, the 4th Eurasian Innovation Forum, hosted by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Kazakhstan and the National Commission of UNESCO in Kazakhstan, and organized by the Eurasian Innovation Alliance and Caspian University of Kazakhstan, was held in Almaty, Kazakhstan. At the opening ceremony, President Li Jun of the campus congratulated on the successful convening of the forum and delivered a speech on behalf of China University of Petroleum (Beijing) Karamay Campus. He stated that this forum is a powerful measure to further improve the international cooperation mechanism of the "Belt and Road" initiative. Leveraging its geographical location in the hinterland of the Eurasian continent and its advantages in engineering education, the campus will strive to promote cooperation with universities from various countries around the world, especially those in Kazakhstan, to jointly cultivate high-level, applied, and international talents. Recently, a delegation led by Nursenov Koldasbek, President of Caspian University of Kazakhstan, visited the campus for a field investigation and exchange. The two universities reached a consensus on cooperation in areas such as teacher training, joint student cultivation, scientific research cooperation, and joint laboratory construction.

On November 2nd, a delegation led by Nursenov Koldasbek, President of Kazakhstan's Caspian University, visited our campus for research and exchange, accompanied by Shao Yu, Party Secretary and General Manager of Karamay Xinkeao Oil and Gas Technology Co., Ltd. President Li Jun of the campus and heads of relevant functional departments warmly received the delegation led by Nursenov Koldasbek and Shao Yu. Recently, the 4th Asian Para Games and the Asian U17 and U15 Badminton Championships came to a close. Zhang Chen, a teacher from the Department of Sports of the campus, was selected as a referee for boccia at the Asian Para Games, while Yuan Afang participated as a domestic technical official at the 2023 Asian U17 and U15 Badminton Championships in Chengdu. With their professional and rigorous attitudes and fair judgments, the two teachers have earned praise and respect from athletes both at home and abroad. They have demonstrated the educational philosophy and spirit of the campus through practical actions, making positive contributions to the campus's sports education.In recent years, the campus has intensified the cultivation of "specialized and versatile" teachers, strongly encouraging teachers and students to participate in referee work for various levels of sports events. On September 25th 2023 a delegation of three people, including Askar Sizkov, Dean of the Faculty of Geology and Petroleum Engineering at Satpayev Kazakh National Technical University, and Bayan Almatov, Director of the Oil and Gas Trade Department at Aktobe Zhubanov National University, visited the campus for exchange. Liu Jian, Vice President of the University and Secretary of the Party Committee and President of the campus, and Li Jun, Vice President of the University, met with the delegation, and heads of relevant functional departments and colleges participated in the symposium. The symposium was presided over by Li Jun. At the meeting, Liu Jian expressed his welcome to Askar Sizkov and his delegation. He pointed out that the campus has similar academic settings with the two Kazakhstani universities that visited, and has already established good cooperative relations with them relying on the Shanghai Cooperation Organization University and overseas oil companies in the early stage. On September 15th, the 2023 Asia-Europe Expo · International Education Exchange Forum was held at the Urumqi International Convention and Exhibition Center. With the theme of "Deepening Educational Exchange and Building a Better Future," the forum was sponsored by the Department of Education of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, the Education Bureau of Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, and the School Planning, Construction, and Development Center of the Ministry of Education. China University of Petroleum (Beijing), in collaboration with Xinjiang University and Tsinghua University, hosted the Engineering and Science Sub-forum titled "International Exchange and Cooperation in Energy and Mineral Resources Development and Utilization under the Background of Interdisciplinary Integration. Leading figures from the Ministry of Education and the autonomous region attended the forum activities, including Jing Degang, Director of the Ethnic Education Department of the Ministry of Education, and Wu Guoqiang, Deputy Director of the School Planning, Construction, and Development Center of the Ministry of Education, who both attended the Engineering and Science Sub-forum. In her report, Wu Xiaolin introduced the development achievements of China University of Petroleum (Beijing) in serving the "carbon peak and carbon neutrality" goals, the transformation and upgrading of the energy industry, and the construction of the "Belt and Road." She also elaborated on the university's international cooperation vision in areas such as industry-education integration and technological innovation. She stated that in 2015, the university established a campus in Karamay, Xinjiang, the core area of the "Belt and Road," marking a new journey of comprehensively serving talent cultivation and energy cooperation along the "Belt and Road" by leveraging its geographical advantages. She pointed out that the future world will be one that is more open and inclusive, one that emphasizes innovation and leadership, and one that requires closer cooperation. Achieving carbon peaking and neutrality and accelerating green energy development are important paths for human sustainable development. High-level research universities should be guided by sustainable development, innovate their concepts, integrate internal mechanisms, widely disseminate the concept of "carbon peaking and neutrality," accelerate the iterative upgrading of traditional majors, and cultivate top-notch innovative talents who can lead sustainable development. They should better leverage the supporting role of technological innovation in energy conservation and carbon reduction, promote the synchronous development of industrial transformation and upgrading, energy conservation and carbon reduction, and modern energy systems. They should also strengthen the construction of international cooperation and innovation platforms, promote international exchange and cooperation in the field of "carbon peaking and neutrality" to deeper levels, higher standards, and broader areas, and contribute educational strength to achieving the "carbon peaking and neutrality" goals on schedule and sharing a more harmonious and beautiful green home. During the sub-forum, China University of Petroleum (Beijing) signed an inter-university cooperation agreement with Satpayev National Technical University of Kazakhstan.The 2023 Asia-Europe Expo · International Education Exchange Forum aims to establish a new platform for educational cooperation and exchange between China and Asian and European countries, especially neighboring countries, to jointly promote the construction of an educational community along the "Belt and Road." A total of 97 foreign guests from 18 countries attended the forum. On the same day, the "2023 Asia-Europe Expo · International Education Exchange Forum Urumqi Initiative" was released.During the event, the Karamay Campus of the university was also invited to participate in the Xinjiang University Scientific and Technological Achievements Exhibition, showcasing the university's significant technological transformation achievements in areas such as oil and gas exploration and development, production and processing, and new energy.

In September 2023, the 6th China (Karamay) International Petroleum, Natural Gas and Petrochemical Technology and Equipment Exhibition and Investment and Trade Fair was held at the Karamay Exhibition Center. More than 110 volunteers from the campus were assigned to undertake tasks such as language translation, interview recording, venue setup, and personnel guidance, embodying the spirit of "being responsible and resilient" among students of China University of Petroleum. They contributed their youthful volunteer efforts to the successful holding of the exhibition. To ensure the smooth operation of the exhibition service work, the Communist Youth League Committee of Karamay City organized pre-job training in areas such as protocol reception, first aid and safety, and communication skills before the exhibition. During the exhibition, the campus volunteers used their knowledge, adhered to their posts, and fulfilled their responsibilities. With professional services, serious attitudes, and dedication, they received exhibition visitors, introduced urban development, accurately translated exhibition content, and answered relevant questions.
