On September 25th 2023 a delegation of three people, including Askar Sizkov, Dean of the Faculty of Geology and Petroleum Engineering at Satpayev Kazakh National Technical University, and Bayan Almatov, Director of the Oil and Gas Trade Department at Aktobe Zhubanov National University, visited the campus for exchange. Liu Jian, Vice President of the University and Secretary of the Party Committee and President of the campus, and Li Jun, Vice President of the University, met with the delegation, and heads of relevant functional departments and colleges participated in the symposium. The symposium was presided over by Li Jun.

At the meeting, Liu Jian expressed his welcome to Askar Sizkov and his delegation. He pointed out that the campus has similar academic settings with the two Kazakhstani universities that visited, and has already established good cooperative relations with them relying on the Shanghai Cooperation Organization University and overseas oil companies in the early stage. In the future, based on the location advantages of Xinjiang and the school's characteristics, the campus will strengthen cooperation and exchanges with universities in countries related to the "Belt and Road" initiative, and strive to build the campus into a "high-level, applied, and international" talent training base and a Silk Road regional scientific and technological innovation and achievement transformation base.

Askar Sizkov and Bayan Almatov expressed that Xinjiang, China is adjacent to Kazakhstan and is a good neighbor and partner. In the ten years since the initiative of jointly building the "Belt and Road" was proposed, China and Kazakhstan have established a permanent comprehensive strategic partnership. The cities of Almaty, Aktobe, and Karamay are all dominated by the petroleum industry. This visit to the Karamay campus will strongly promote deeper cooperation between the three universities.

The three parties reached a consensus that they will gradually carry out cooperation in areas such as the appointment of dual mentors for graduate students, short-term exchange programs for teachers and students to come to China, joint training for dual degrees, Sino-foreign cooperation in running schools, scientific research cooperation, and platform construction, to jointly support the deep implementation of the "Belt and Road" initiative.

During the visit, Askar Sizkov and Bayan Almatov and their delegation visited the campus under the guidance of relevant heads.

During the 2023 Asia-Europe Expo·Education International Forum Engineering Sub-forum, the campus signed an inter-university cooperation agreement with Satpayev Kazakh National Technical University.
