CUPK Holds 2023 Enrollment Ceremony for First Batch of International Freshmen

On October 8, the campus held the enrollment ceremony for the first batch of 39 international students in 2023. Liu Jian, Vice President of the university and Secretary of the Party Committee and President of the campus, and Li Jun, Vice President of the university, attended the event, along with relevant functional departments and college heads.

During the enrollment ceremony, the campus leaders pinned the school badge on the international students, had friendly conversations with them, and took photos together for commemoration. Liu Jian expressed his high expectations for the international students, hoping that they would adapt to the campus life as soon as possible, learn professional knowledge well, perceive Chinese culture, tell energy stories, understand China's development, and become ambassadors of friendship and bridges of cooperation. Subsequently, under the guidance of their class advisors, the international students visited the panoramic sand table of the campus, learned about the school's development history, and increased their sense of identity and belonging to the campus.

In total, the campus has successfully enrolled 67 international students from 13 countries, including Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Pakistan, Morocco, Liberia, Mongolia, Syria, Jordan, Vietnam, and Russia. These international students will study Chinese language preparatory courses and major in economics at the campus.

Since the approval of the Autonomous Region Education Department to resume the recruitment of international students in 2022, the campus has attached great importance to the recruitment work of international students. It has held several special meetings to study and formulate recruitment plans, strengthen recruitment promotion, and broaden recruitment channels. At the same time, an international student reception team has been established to ensure the smooth registration and safe accommodation of international students. After the arrival of international students, the School of Humanities and Sciences has organized friendship activities for them to help them familiarize with the campus environment and integrate into the campus culture as soon as possible.

In May this year, President Xi Jinping replied to a letter from Central Asian international students at China University of Petroleum (Beijing), encouraging them to make greater contributions to promoting the development of relations between China and Central Asian countries. This year also marks the third anniversary of President Xi Jinping's reply to the first batch of international students graduating from the campus and staying in Xinjiang. The campus has always remembered the entrustment of President Xi Jinping and strived to cultivate a batch of oil talents who are capable and can take on important responsibilities, contributing to the joint construction of the "Belt and Road" and promoting the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.
