The campus currently has about 7,500 students. Relying on the characteristics and advantages of the university, the campus has been layout the "double first-class" disciplines and majors, and the "Excellent Engineer Education and Training Plan" majors, facing the development needs of the energy sector and the construction of the "eight major industrial clusters" in the autonomous region. . There are currently 24 undergraduate majors covering six disciplines: engineering, science, economics, management, literature, and law. Two disciplines have been selected as key disciplines of the autonomous region, two as key majors of the autonomous region, seven as first-class undergraduate majors construction sites of the autonomous region, and five as first-class undergraduate courses of the autonomous region. The campus has won 6 provincial and ministerial teaching achievement awards and 1 second prize of national teaching achievement award. Guided by the value concept of "going to the places where the motherland needs the most", the campus encourages graduates to make achievements in the western grassroots. One-third of the past graduates have been promoted to higher education, and nearly one-third have remained in Xinjiang for employment. The teaching staff is strong, with 54.6% holding senior titles and 52.5% holding doctorates. The campus has established 61 stable and high-quality enterprise engineering practice platforms, employed 353 part-time enterprise teachers to participate in talent cultivation, and approved 3 national new engineering projects, 1 new liberal arts project, and 32 collaborative education projects of industry-university cooperation by the Ministry of Education. The campus strives to build an application-oriented talent cultivation and application research demonstration zone.
