Program of Petroleum EngineeringThe discipline of Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering originated from the "Drilling Engineering" and "Oil Production Engineering" majors established by Beijing Petroleum Institute in 1953. It started recruiting postgraduate students in 1961, obtained the authority to award doctorates in engineering in 1986, and established a postdoctoral research station for Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering. In 2001, it was selected as a national key discipline and reconfirmed as a national key discipline in 2007. In 2017, this discipline was awarded A+ in the fourth national round of discipline evaluations and selected as a national "Double Top-Class" construction discipline. The Petroleum Engineering major at the campus has been approved as a key major (Innovation and Entrepreneurship Demonstration Major) in the autonomous region (in 2017) and a top-tier undergraduate major in the autonomous region (in 2020). The Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering discipline has been awarded as a key discipline of the "14th Five-Year Plan" in the autonomous region (in 2022). It has introduced 24 Ph.D. holders, relying on the western policy to introduce 2 Chang Jiang Scholars, 2 Chang Jiang Scholars' lecture professors, 1杰青, 1 recipient of the Autonomous Region's Outstanding Youth Fund, 1 Chinese Academy of Sciences Western Young Scholar, 1 talent from the Autonomous Region's "Tianchi Doctor" program, 1 high-level talent studio in Karamay, and 3 outstanding young talents from the university.Currently, the Petroleum Engineering Department at the campus has established a high-level teaching and research team composed of outstanding teachers from the main campus, backbone teachers at the campus, and well-known experts from enterprises. Program of Software EngineeringThe research content of software engineering covers software design (which should possess which functions, the division of software functional modules, and the business processes of each function), development (programming languages, development platforms, tools, and architectures), testing (how to ensure the quality of software development), deployment (how to put the developed software into use), maintenance (how to maintain the software), as well as the writing of relevant software engineering documents and the management of software development teams.In addition, with the continuous development of big data, the Internet, the Internet of Things, and artificial intelligence, students majoring in software engineering also need to master related theories, models, algorithms, and programming implementation techniques in these fields.The Computer Department of the campus, relying on the School of Information Science and Engineering of the main campus, began to recruit undergraduate students majoring in software engineering in 2016. The major boasts a teaching team led by professors, experts involved in supporting the construction and development of Xinjiang, and young teachers. Based on theoretical foundations of mathematical statistics, machine learning, and computer technology, it studies the techniques and methods of data collection, cleaning, storage, analysis, visualization, and other activities. It represents a complete set of knowledge systems facing new challenges, new thinking, and new methods in terms of theories, methods, models, and technologies.The major of Data Science and Big Data Technology is an interdisciplinary field that differs from traditional statistics and computer science. It is not a simple combination of the two, but a discipline built upon the foundations of statistics, mathematics, computer science, and machine learning.Relying on related majors such as computer science and technology, software engineering, and mathematics, this major leverages the high-level talent cultivation experience of computer science and technology and software engineering master's programs, as well as the doctoral program in "Computer Technology and Resource Information Engineering," to cultivate professional talents. In 2022, the employment rate for graduates reached 92.75%. The second graduating class is currently in a critical stage of preparing for postgraduate entrance exams and job hunting. In terms of employment, students have successively signed contracts with well-known domestic companies such as BYD Company Limited, China Merchants Bank, and so on.

Program of Resource Prospecting EngineeringThe predecessor of the Resource Prospecting Engineering major at our school was the Petroleum Geology major established by Beijing Petroleum College in 1953. This major mainly studies the formation, evolution, and distribution patterns of oil and gas reservoirs. That is, through comprehensive geological, geophysical, and geochemical analyses, it aims to discover and prove oil and gas reservoirs, providing theoretical support for the rational and efficient development of oil and gas reservoirs.Our Resource Prospecting Engineering program is accredited by the national engineering education program, included in the national "Excellent Engineer Education and Training Program," and recognized as a unique major by the Ministry of Education. The discipline of geological resources and geological engineering, which this major belongs to, has been included in the national first-class discipline construction, and the fourth round of national discipline evaluation resulted in an A+. Program of Resource Prospecting EngineeringThe predecessor of the Resource Prospecting Engineering major at our school was the Petroleum Geology major established by Beijing Petroleum College in 1953. This major mainly studies the formation, evolution, and distribution patterns of oil and gas reservoirs. That is, through comprehensive geological, geophysical, and geochemical analyses, it aims to discover and prove oil and gas reservoirs, providing theoretical support for the rational and efficient development of oil and gas reservoirs.Our Resource Prospecting Engineering program is accredited by the national engineering education program, included in the national "Excellent Engineer Education and Training Program," and recognized as a unique major by the Ministry of Education.
