This program at China University of Petroleum (Beijing) was established in 1994, which was one of the earliest undergraduate majors set up by the university. In 2017, the Karamay campus officially enrolled its first batch of students majoring in accounting. In 2019, the accounting major of China University of Petroleum (Beijing) was selected as one of the first national-level first-tier undergraduate majors for construction. In 2021, the accounting major of the campus was awarded the project of "the first batch of new liberal arts research and reform practice" and the project of "the first batch of industry-university-research collaborative education program" by the Ministry of Education. From 2018 to 2022, the accounting major of the campus has successively won 104 national awards, 73 provincial awards, and 74 municipal awards.The core courses for the undergraduate program of Accountancy include Principles of Accounting, Intermediate Financial Accounting, Advanced Financial Accounting, Cost and Management Accounting, Financial Management, Accounting Information System, Professional Ethics in Accounting, and Auditing.Accountancy is a highly practical discipline that not only studies the principles and rules of accounting, explores the theoretical system and conceptual structure that can reveal the laws of accounting development, but also studies the specific application of accounting principles and rules, proposing scientific indicator systems and methods and techniques for reflection and control. Accounting serves accounting practices from both theoretical and methodological perspectives, becoming a guide for people to improve accounting work and perfect accounting systems. The main issues it addresses include accounting and management, financial operations, tax management, auditing, and more.With the development of global economic integration, the strong professionalism and broad employment prospects of accounting have become increasingly prominent, making the accounting major have a large market demand and a good employment environment. Graduates of the accounting major have a wide range of employment adaptability. They can not only be qualified for accounting and financial management work in various enterprises, institutions, government departments, accounting firms, and financial institutions, but also engage in teaching and scientific research in schools and research institutions. In 2017, 14 graduates of the accounting major entered top universities at home and abroad such as University College London and Xiamen University. In 2018, 20 students obtained the qualification to pursue postgraduate studies and entered universities such as Nanjing University, Harbin Institute of Technology, and Xi'an Jiaotong University. In 2019, 20 students obtained the qualification to pursue postgraduate studies and entered universities such as Shandong University, Northeastern University, Southwestern University of Finance and Economics, and the Chinese University of Hong Kong.
