OverviewThe Faculty of Science and Arts was established in April 2016, relying on the basic construction of the College of Sciences, the College of Foreign Languages, and the College of Sports and Humanities & Arts from the Beijing campus. Facts and StaffThe Faculty currently has 112 full-time teachers, among which 42% hold senior professional titles, and 42% have overseas study and visiting experience. Five teachers have been selected for various high-level talent projects in the Xinjiang Autonomous Region. As a university receiving targeted assistance from the Ministry of Education, the Faculty has teachers supported by 18 universities directly under the Ministry of Education, including Beijing Foreign Studies University, Beijing Jiaotong University, Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, Central University of Finance and Economics, China University of Political Science and Law, University of International Business and Economics, North China Electric Power University, East China University of Science and Technology, Shanghai International Studies University, Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, Hohai University, Central China Normal University, University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, Xidian University, China University of Geosciences (Beijing), Zhongnan University of Economics and Law, and Beijing Language and Culture University, as well as teachers participating in the Silver Age Plan. The faculty boasts rich teaching experience and research practice, ensuring the quality of teaching.The Faculty offers majors in Russian, English, Statistics, Mathematics and Applied Mathematics, and Chinese Language and Literature. There are currently 701 students enrolled. During their time at the faculty, full-time undergraduate students in their second year and above have the opportunity to participate in a one-year exchange program at top universities in China, such as Shanghai International Studies University, Beijing Foreign Studies University, University of International Business and Economics, East China Normal University, and Hohai University, as well as renowned universities abroad, including Kazan Federal University and Tomsk Polytechnic University. This allows them to access the best learning resources and platforms in their respective fields.Under the leadership of the Karamay campus party committee and administration, the faculty adheres to a high-level, applied, international, and collaborative development path. Holding the student-centered educational philosophy, it focuses on cultivating high-level applied talents with strong learning and practical abilities, innovative spirits, and international perspectives. Since its establishment, the Faculty has attached great importance to student innovation and entrepreneurship. Over the years, it has fostered a style of innovation and entrepreneurship that combines liberal arts and sciences, encouraging students to actively participate in various academic competitions. The Faculty has achieved numerous national awards in competitions such as the National Russian Language Competition for University Students, the National English Competition for College Students, the "FLTRP Cup" National English Series Competition for College Students, the National Mathematics Competition for College Students, the National Mathematical Modeling Competition for College Students, the "Challenge Cup" China Collegiate Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, and the China "Internet+" Collegiate Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition.The Faculty inherits the traditional advantages of the Beijing campus, implements the campus's philosophy of talent cultivation, scientific research, and social service, and continuously strengthens exchanges and cooperation with renowned universities, local governments, and various industries and enterprises at home and abroad.
